The City Manager's Office provides general administrative services for management of the City to ensure that all Council policies and directives are implemented. In accordance with the City’s Charter and Ordinance Code, the City Manager is responsible for the enforcement of the City's ordinances and resolutions of the Council, appointment of City employees, preparation and enforcement of the budget adopted by the Council, labor relations, expenditure of funds and control of all departments and divisions of the City. Additional responsibilities of the City Manager includes acting as liaison between the City Council, its advisory boards and commissions and the City staff; preparing agenda materials and recommendations for Council meetings; preparation of regular and special management reports; processing of citizen inquiries and service requests; working with other agencies of government including the Metropolitan Council, municipal leagues, federal, state, and county governments; representing the City at meetings and conferences; and serving on committees as directed.
