The Commission on Environmental and Sustainable Practices is charged with monitoring and planning for changes, improvements, and innovations in the field of solid waste management, environmental protection, and sustainable practices, defined as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs, as they apply to the local community. The commission encourages the implementation of responsible waste management, and environmentally conscious practices that are economically sound. The commission also makes recommendations to the Council on issues related to waste reduction, reuse, recycling, solid waste management, environmental practices, and sustainability. The commission sponsors recycling, waste reduction, and environmental awareness events and services to White Bear Lake residents. The Commission on Environmental and Sustainable Practices consists of seven (7) members appointed by the mayor on a rotating basis and serve for a term of three (3) years.
