The Parks Division maintains City sidewalks, downtown boulevards, and more than 160 acres of parkland (including trash removal, mowing grass, cleaning, and maintenance of rest room facilities). The Division also installs and maintains playground equipment, 11 skating rinks, lake buoys, and boat skids. The Division trims trees and shrubs throughout the City and performs grounds maintenance around the City's two fire stations, the police station, and City Hall. The Parks Division provides for planting and maintenance of flower gardens at various sites throughout the City and the hanging flower basket program in the downtown area. The Sewer Division provides for the operation, maintenance, and treatment of wastewater to an environmentally safe level for returning the water back to the ecological system. The Streets Division provides street maintenance for 101 miles of city streets and alleys. Activities include street sweeping, curb repairs, pothole patching, storm sewer repairs, shoulder grading, street surface repairs after water main breaks and City-wide tree trimming. The Water Division is a function of the Public Works Department, accounts for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all facilities necessary for the production, storage, and distribution of water to residents and commercial/industrial establishments in White Bear Lake.
