Welcome to the Web page of the White Bear Lake Police Department.  The members of the Department view this page as an opportunity to further the Mission of our Agency, which simply states "Committed to the Improvement of the Quality of Life in our Community."

The philosophy of our Department has been that of Community Oriented Policing.  This philosophy has two core components: community partnerships and problem solving.  It requires that we work together with citizens to solve community problems identified by citizens.

In 1999, the International Association of Chiefs of Police selected our Department as the top Community Policing Department in the world serving a population of 20,000 to 50,000.  This was a great honor, however, we can still improve on our service by continuing to listen to, and work with, our citizens.

Please use this web site to learn more about your Police Department, our programs, and about the community.  We welcome public  input regarding any police service or city issue that impacts those we serve in the City of White Bear Lake or the City of Birchwood Village.  It is very important that we hear from both citizens who are happy with the services that we have provided, as well as those who seek satisfaction.

The Police Department is responsible for promoting overall peaceful conduct in the City.  Primary activities include enforcement of laws of the state and city, the investigation of crimes and the apprehension of violators, enforcement of traffic laws to obtain safe and expeditious movement of traffic and the reduction of traffic accidents, promotion of crime prevention and supervision of safe pedestrian movement.   In addition to these activities, the department performs many services rendered in the interest of protection, safety, and convenience to the public.  The Department works in conjunction with the School District to provide officers in schools as a liaison and mentor to district children.  The department maintains a close liaison with other law enforcement agencies throughout the state, county, and neighboring communities, and provides law enforcement services under contract to the City of Birchwood Village.

Please visit our station, or e-mail us, regarding any issue that is of concern to you, whether it is neighborhood traffic, crime issues, or questions about our policies.  We also encourage you to e-mail your neighborhood officer regarding problems impacting your neighborhood.
