Welcoming and Inclusive Community Initiative

The City is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community for all who live, work and play in White Bear Lake. Access to municipal services and community assets must be inviting to all. This demands that there is no disparity of access based on longevity as a member of this community, nor on race, culture, age, sexual orientation, gender, physical ability, socio-economic status or any other characteristic. This demands that all who live, work and play in White Bear Lake are welcomed.

An 18-member Task Force was appointed to help guide a process toward the development of a collection of individual experiences and their first-hand stories into a community narrative plus create recommendations for ways the City can further its commitment to fostering a welcome and inclusive community. Throughout 2021, the Task Force listened and learned from the experiences and perspectives of residents related to what it means to be a welcoming and inclusive community. They presented a report to the City Council in April 2022, summarizing findings and providing recommendations for further consideration.
