Certification of Filing

All candidates or committees must file a Certification of Filing within 7 days of a general or special election in which their name is on the ballot. On this form, the candidate or committee treasurer affirms either all required campaign finance reports have been filed, or the candidate or committee did not raise or spend more than $750 in that calendar year.

Under Minnesota State Statute 211A.02, candidates, committees and corporations that receive and/or spend more than $750 in a calendar year must file campaign finance reports with the filing officer.  These reports are due within 14 days of reaching the $750 threshold; 10 days before a primary or special election; 10 days before a general or special election; 30 days after a general or special election and by January 31 of each year until a final report is filed.

Information on campaign finance reports is public and is posted on the City's website and reported to the Secretary of State's Campaign Finance Board.
