The White Bear Lake Police Department is committed to Community Oriented Policing (COP) in which the department works with the citizens to solve community problems identified by the citizens. Responsible for promoting overall peaceful conduct in the city, primary activities include enforcement of state and city laws, the investigation of crimes and apprehension of violators, enforcement of traffic laws to obtain safe and expeditious movement of traffic and the reduction of traffic accidents, promotion of crime prevention and supervision of safe pedestrian movement.

Additionally, the department performs many services rendered in the interest of protection, safety and convenience to the public.  In conjunction with the school district, the department provides officers in the schools as a liaison and mentor to district children. The department maintains a close liaison with other law enforcement agencies throughout the county, state and neighboring communities.
