REAL ID deadline extended to May 7, 2025

​The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has extended the REAL ID full enforcement deadline to May 7, 2025​. 

Please review the identification requirements for the REAL ID or Enhanced ID.  Save time filling out forms in the office, please complete the online Pre-Application. Select the top option in the Driver Services box:  "Pre-Apply for a Driver's License or ID Card." Note: The License Bureau cannot accept electronic images or copies. Original documents must be presented in-person.

Beginning May 7, 2025, Minnesotans will not be able to use their standard driver's license to board domestic flights or enter federal facilities. Instead, they will need a REAL ID, enhanced driver's license or ID card, passport or passport card or another acceptable form of identification for federal purposes.
