Adopt-A-Park Program

About the Program
Adopt-A-Park is a volunteer public service program that enables citizens to contribute to clean parks in White Bear Lake. Volunteers conduct activities such as litter pick-up, plantings, and general park maintenance and improvements. The City provides trash bags and other supplies needed for general maintenance and improvements.

Groups committing to at least two clean-up/improvement events a year, for two years will be recognized on the Adopt-A-Park website for the duration of the commitment. Groups going above and beyond this commitment, as determined by the Park Lead, will be rewarded with a an Adopt-A-Park sign at the designated park.

Guidelines

  • All maintenance activities and scheduling must be coordinated with the Parks Lead.
  • Filled trash bags provided shall be placed at an agreed upon location.
  • Groups to provide adequate supervision to participants under eighteen years of age.
  • Groups to work only during daylight hours and good weather conditions, and be familiar with the following safety tips.

Safety Tips

  • Wear work gloves, appropriate clothing and footwear.
  • Stay away from construction sites and avoid all light and heavy equipment.
  • Never pick up heavy, large or hazardous materials. Report these to the Park Lead.
  • Stay hydrated, bring a first aid kit and carry a charged cell phone in case of emergency.

Acknowledgement

The group and their agents shall assume all liability and will hold the City of White Bear Lake, its agents and employees harmless from any or all claims for damages, actions or causes of actions arising out of the work being performed. Any or all volunteers of the group or other persons associated with the group while engaged in the performance of any work shall not be considered employees of the City of White Bear Lake and shall in no way be the obligation or responsibility of the City of White Bear Lake.

AVID helps students become better educated, responsible citizens, and leaders in society. One can become a responsible citizen by adopting a park and taking responsibility for Lakeview Park's cleanliness and useability.

Thank you "Friends of Jack Yost Park" for adopting Jack Yost Park beginning February 2023 for a two year commitment!

 

Friends of Jack Yost Park was created in 2021 with the enthusiasm of a local 4th grade student.  The Pelto family encourages their neighbors to get involved and for all residents to “Work Hard, Play Hard!”

We are the Matoska Mariners 4-H Club, a youth group for the White Bear Lake Area. We are a group of K-12 students and their parents. We are adopting this park as part of the 4-H commitment to "Living better for our families, our club, our community, our country and our world".
