2016 Spring Cleanup Day

To help White Bear Lake residents properly dispose of unwanted items, the City hosts a spring and fall cleanup from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first Saturday in May and in October. Household hazardous waste is NOT accepted (except car batteries and florescent lights). Proof of White Bear Lake residency is required (i.e., utility bill or driver's license). The City of White Bear Lake and Republic Services accept no responsibility for damage done to vehicles while they are unloaded.

Location

4200 Hoffman Road (former Public Works site) west side of the intersection of Highway 61 and White Bear Avenue. Vehicle lineup will be on Hoffman Road, south of the Public Works facility, so that traffic on Highway 61 is not blocked. Cash or Checks payable to the City of White Bear Lake are accepted for payment.  Credit card payments are not accepted.

  • Appliances (toilets, clothes washers, etc.)

  • Car batteries
  • Carpeting
  • Computers (PC's, monitors, laptops)
  • Construction materials
  • Fluorescent bulbs and ballasts (up to 10)
  • Furniture
  • Humidifiers
  • Lawnmowers and snow blowers (all fluids drained)
  • Mattresses
  • Televisions and electronics
  • Textiles - NEW textile recycling at May 4, 2024 cleanup event
  • Tires

Items Not Accepted

  • Leaves, branches, tree stumps and other yard waste
  • Firewood
  • Items larger than appliances (fish houses, boats, sheds)
  • Motor oil, propane tanks, paint, and other household hazardous waste

Fees

A fee will be charged based on the size and type of load to help pay disposal costs. Pay at the gate with cash or check.

You can bring a load of general trash and be charged by the size of your vehicle. If you have bulky items that require special handling (listed below) you will only be charged for those items. If you have a mixed load, you will be charged for both.

The City is excited to partner with Retold Recycling to host a textile recycling event for residents. Collection will be held in conjunction with the City’s spring cleanup event on May 4 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Yard waste includes leaves, brush, grass clippings, and other plant material.  State law prohibits the disposal of yard waste such as leaves, branches, weeds, and grass clippings in the trash.
