Waste Reduction and Reuse

Reuse Photo

The most effective way to reduce waste is to not create it in the first place. Making a new product requires a lot of materials and energy - raw materials must be extracted from the earth, and the product must be fabricated then transported to wherever it will be sold. As a result, reduction and reuse are the most effective ways you can save natural resources, protect the environment and save money. (EPA)

Trash to Treasure Day - last Saturday in April

The City of White Bear Lake and White Bear Township partner each year to offer Trash to Treasure Day on the last Saturday in April. Residents can place reusable items they no longer want at the end of their driveways. Treasure hunters have the opportunity to pick up these items for free.

Donations

Do you have furniture, small appliances, electronics, clothing, or other household items that are reusable? Consider dropping off your reusable items at a local thrift store, consignment shop, or another charity.

White Bear Lake has a Goodwill drop-off location that takes reusable items in good condition such as clothes, books, sporting goods, housewares, and furniture. Click for a map to Goodwill in White Bear Lake, or contact them at 651-426-0824.

Vehicle Donations

Donate your car, truck, motorcycle, SUV, RV or boat to a car donation foundation program supporting Wheels for Wishes, Wheels for Wishes and Wellness, and Vehicles for Veterans charities. They accept all vehicles - whether running or not.
