Food Scraps (Organics) Recycling

WBL Food Scraps Collection Site

More than 30% of what goes into the trash is food scraps and other organic waste. Recycling food waste converts it to compost, which puts nutrients back into the soil. 

Food Scraps Recycling Options
Reduce landfill waste by recycling biodegradable items like food scraps (called 'organics recycling'). Residents can use one or more of the following disposal options:

  • Food scraps collection sites - Drop off food scraps at a Ramsey County food scraps collection site. The closest collection site is located at the White Bear Lake Public Works Facility (3950 Hoffman Road). 

Requirements
Use a compostable bag when dropping off food scraps at any of the Ramsey County collection sites.  Compostable bags are available at the collection sites. Visit the Ramsey County Food Scraps page for more information, including a list of accepted items.
