Disposal Options

Residents can use the following options to dispose of live holiday trees:

Curbside collection: As part of regular trash service, real holiday trees will be picked up the first two full weeks of January on your collection day and recycled at a yard waste facility. Set trees out for collection next to your trash container on your regularly scheduled collection day. This service is provided at no additional cost to residents.

Preparation:

  • Remove all lights, ornaments, tinsel and tree bags
  • Trees must be placed next to your trash container by 6:00 a.m. on collection day to ensure collection.
  • Wait until the day before or the day of your collection to set out your tree so it doesn't get stuck in the snow or ice.

Ramsey County yard waste disposal sites: Real holiday trees can also be recycled at a Ramsey County yard waste collection site. For more information, visit RamseyRecycles.com, or call the Recycling and Disposal Hotline at (651) 633-EASY (3279), answered 24/7.
