Economic Development Corporation

Purpose

The Economic Development Corporation (EDC) was commissioned as a separate non-profit entity in the 1980's to serve as guidance for furthering economic development in the City of White Bear Lake.  The EDC had a time period of inactivity, and it was not until 2011 when the City determined it should be re-commissioned.

Since 2011, The EDC has been serving its purpose in furthering economic development; assisting and promoting growth, expansion, and development of business concerns.  The EDC contributes to the economic well-being of the area as measured through increases in employment, payroll, business volume, and corresponding factors rather than monetary profits to the members of the corporation.

Mission Statement

Change is inevitable as infrastructure and residential and commercial development age and the White Bear Lake Community transitions through an aging and diversifying population. The White Bear Lake Economic Development Corporation has been created to:

  • Champion the economic development, stabilization and transition to future trends for White Bear Lake

  • Coordinate private industry and commerce, local government and community needs in order to develop a vibrant economy that enhances community well-being, stability, and services.

The County Road E Corridor is an economic hub for the communities along the corridor with enormous potential for revitalization and placemaking.  In recognition of the importance of this corridor, the cities of White Bear Lake, Vadnais Heights, and Gem Lake with support from Ramsey County partnered for a series of community workshops and discussions led by Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) Twin Cities in September and October 2022 to guide future investments along the corridor.
