Fix Up Program

Minnesota Housing's Fix Up Program provides affordable, fixed interest loans.  Lower interest rates are available for energy conservation and accessibility improvements. For home improvements that address emergencies or accessibility, the Emergency and Accessibility Loan Program is also available.

Home Energy Squad Visits (HES)

For homes of 1-4 units, contact Center for Energy and Environment (CEE) for a Home Energy Squad Visit.  HES uses licensed contractors to install the following products: door weather stripping, programmable thermostat, water heater blanket, high efficiency shower heads, faucet aerators, and LED light bulbs. The small fee also includes recommendations for additional energy efficiency improvements.

Home Energy Hub

Home Energy Hub is your trusted resource for all things related to home energy use.  Local nonprofit Center for Energy and Environment designed the Home Energy Hub for residents of cold climates states such as Minnesota.  Developed by home energy experts, they discuss complex home energy issues in approachable language.  If anyone has questions or needs extra help, CEE's free Energy Advisors are standing by to answer calls and emails.

CEE Home and Energy Improvement Loans

The Center for Energy and Environment (CEE) offers a variety of low interest loans for home improvements including energy and solar technology.

Ramsey County Residential Rehabilitation Deferred Loan

Ramsey County, through its Residential Rehabilitation Deferred Loan Program, offers home improvement deferred payment loans for improvements which make homes more livable, more energy efficient or more accessible.

Residential Renewable Energy Tax Credit

2019 is the final year residents can claim the full 30% Residential Renewable Energy Tax Credit.  The current tax credit means a taxpayer may claim a credit of 30% of qualified expenditures for a system that serves a dwelling unit located in the United States that is owned and used as a residence by the taxpayer.  For more details on eligible expenditures and the tax credit please click here.
