Financial Assistance for Aging in Place
Below are a list of agencies, non-profits and programs that may make aging in place financially feasible.
Community Action Partnership of Ramsey & Washington Counties
Community Action Partnership offers energy assistance, emergency furnace and boiler services, food support and more. Contact them at 651-645-6445 for more information and to determine eligibility.
Minnesota Homeownership Center
The organization offers a number of resources for homeowners including a directory of rehab and repair grant and loan programs.
MnCHOICES Assessment
MnCHOICES is an in-person visit, usually where you live that integrates assessment and support planning for Minnesotans of all ages who have any type of disability or need for long-term services and supports. There is no cost to you for the assessment. Contact the county where you area for an assessment referral or Senior LinkAge Line (1-800-333-2433). A non-profit that helps people buy, fix and keep their homes dedicated to building and preserving sustainable homeownership for people in the Twin Cities.
Senior Citizen Property Tax Deferral
If you are 65 years or older and have a household income of $60,000 or less, you may be eligible to defer a portion of the property taxes on your home ,through the Senior Citizen Property Tax Deferral Program. The program:
- Limits the maximum amount of property tax you pay to 3 percent of your total household income
- Provides predictability; the amount of tax you pay will not change for as long as you participate in this program

A free service of the state of Minnesota that connects older Minnesotans and their families with the help they need.
